Safran Federal Systems Unveils MicroGEONYX™, A Compact Inertial Navigation System, at AUSA 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. - October 13, 2026
Safran Federal Systems today announced the U.S. launch of the MicroGEONYX™ Inertial Navigation System, the most compact INS in its performance class, at the 2026 Association of the United States Army (AUSA) Annual Meeting & Exposition. Following its international debut at Eurosatory 2026, MicroGEONYX™ brings the battle-proven performance of Safran's GEONYX™ into a miniaturized footprint engineered for platforms where size, weight, and power (SWaP) are critical.
Purpose-built for the demands of the U.S. Army and Defense community, MicroGEONYX™ is powered by Safran's HRG Crystal™ gyro technology, delivering navigation-grade positioning and pointing in GPS-denied and Electronic Warfare-contested environments. Its compact design makes it well suited for counter-unmanned aircraft systems (C-UAS), where sensors and effectors must fit on mobile, space-limited platforms and still point accurately without GPS. It also serves as a backup navigator in Assured Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (A-PNT) systems, sustaining navigation in contested environments when GPS is degraded or unavailable. MicroGEONYX integrates seamlessly across light tactical vehicles, fixed sites, unmanned ground vehicles, and other mission-critical onboard systems. “As drone threats grow, C-UAS systems need precise pointing and navigation in packages small enough to go anywhere," said Anthony Full, Senior Director of Business Development, Navigation Systems at Safran Federal Systems. “MicroGEONYX™ puts proven HRG Crystal™ performance into that package, giving U.S. integrators a cost-effective path to Assured PNT without adding size or weight, whether or not GPS is available.”
Key Features:
Precision Pointing: 1mil pointing accuracy, with autonomous true north finding in under 5 minutes.
C-UAS Ready: Compact, low-power design for integration on mobile C-UAS sensors, effectors, and launchers.
GPS-Independent Operation: On-the-move alignment and autonomous navigation without GNSS.
SWaP Optimized: 1.9 L (4.7 x 4.7 x 5.1 in), under 4.4 lbs., 60% smaller than a standard Geonyx.
Outstanding Reliability: MTBF greater than 100,000 hours.
Simplified Integration: Insensitive to magnetic disturbances; embedded GNSS receiver (external GNSS optional) with RS-422, Ethernet, and CAN bus interfaces.
MIL-STD Compliant: Meets MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-1275, and MIL-STD-461.
